Flip the calendar, it's Winter Carnival Time again!!!!

So it's snowing, what did you think would happen in upstate New York in January? Make the best of it and plan to hit some of the great upstate Winter Carnivals and other shenanigans that go on upstate in the winter.

One of my favorites is the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival in February and you can find the schedule here. You've got to see the phenomenal ice sculptures and castles they make!!!  Another favorite of mine is the Lake George Winter Carnival about an 1.5 hours north of the Capital District.

This years' carnivals should be great due to the snow and really cold weather. (Sorry Al, no palm trees here) If you're wondering what else is going on way north of the Tappan Zee Bridge check out the Tupper Lake/Adirondack Ten Rivers Calendar of Events.

Remember to "unchain" yourself and make a call to the chamber of commerce in the area for some Intel on and places to stay and get some great food. You may not get points on your travel club cards but you'll get points with your crew for finding a great new place to explore.

Betcha won't go swimming...lol...
